Mold Testing in Brampton

You may be reading this article because you are already doing some preliminary research on mold testing.  Indeed, you may be currently concerned about a mold problem - maybe because of a recent water flood; a plumbing leak that was not properly cleaned up; higher-than-usual levels of indoor humidity; or simply bad indoor air circulation.  Any of these are prevailing conditions for mold growth, and you can probably see the growth and smell the distinct “moldy” odour.  In some worse case situations, you somehow know that mold exists, but there is nothing to see, and nothing to smell, just the fact that everyone is having symptoms.  At this stage, it’s a good idea to test for mold, and to use a professional to do the testing.

For Canadians, Health Canada has listed mold as one of the most common of indoor air pollutants.  They strongly urge that all mold be properly cleaned, regardless of the species.  They also strongly suggest that contributing factors (like excessive moisture, pockets of water, or excess humidity) be resolved in order to prevent any potential for health risk.  Health Canada regards all indoor mold growth as hazardous, and makes reference to scientific evidence that shows a link between mold and various respiratory ailments.  For home occupants, we clearly have different tolerance levels and sensitivities to mold, and we all react differently to our exposure.  Thankfully, symptoms may be very basic, like sinus congestion or eye irritation.  But there may also be more severe symptoms like shortness of breath, or wheezing and coughing.  On the down side, the very young and frail, and those with weakened immune systems, may encounter very severe reactions.

When you are ready for mold testing in Brampton, or in the various suburbs north of the GTA, you can trust Mould Hound for a process that is thorough, in-depth, and comprehensive.  Our people are Certified Inspectors - professionals who inspect, detect and test for indoor mold in homes, offices, buildings and facilities.  In the end, when we are finished assessing, we will recommend an action plan to resolve the mold issue.  At Mould Hound, we want our customers to be well informed and we want them to be well equipped to make good decisions about their specific mold problem.  The thing is, we understand mold:  we’ve got the experience to identify the patterns and characteristics, and we have the know-how to properly deal with mold spores and spore dispersal.  As for all the testing, we’re using high-tech precision instruments and top-notch lab analyses to deliver accurate, precise test results.  Unlike some other companies who are focused on basic inspection and testing, Mould Hound has its focus on the big picture right from the start.

At Mould Hound, we are experts in our field:  we employ sophisticated tools and equipment and we pride ourselves on our capability for full end-to-end service – inspection; detection; testing; and reporting.  Our approach is based on a step-by-step methodology:  we systematically collect the air samples (which includes both mold and mold spores); we evaluate and determine which lab tests will be necessary; and finally, we decide exactly where our samples will be tested.  In our professional capacity, we hire independent, third party laboratories that are located in Canada and the U.S.A.  We trust the results to be of the highest quality, and to be accurate, impartial and totally objective.  Our test results are so impeccable, they have been used in court as evidence – and that’s what we want to provide to our customers.

Even with excellent test results, those results still have to be evaluated and interpreted.  It’s just another reason why Mould Hound’s end-to-end service is an excellent value for each customer.  By the time our assessment is complete, we will have summarized, documented and presented a case report in full:  this would include a general overview; an account of the severity of the problem; a cause and extent of the mold growth; and the full test results summary.  The reports are easy-to-read and easy-to-understand - we want our clients to be informed, so they can make good decisions.

Within the reporting process, Mould Hound also includes recommendations for remediation (the removal, reversal or stoppage of mold growth).  We do not involve ourselves in remediation itself, but where needed, we are involved in a consulting role – this ensures that we have an arm’s-length relationship with the contractor who provides the remediation service.  We think this approach is unique and allows us to be unbiased, while giving clients objective assessments and proposals from start to finish.  In this role, we are also able to handle the Clearance Testing procedure, where we verify for the client that the remediation was proper and effective.

With so many mold species, and with the potential for harmful side effects, Health Canada and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation both recommend using accredited Indoor Air Quality Investigators to do mold testing.  They agree that no mold problem should be considered “minor”, and that mold, in general, can pose a health risk.  They further agree that there are cases where mold can be washed and cleaned but the best approach is not to make it a do-it-yourself project.  A reputable contractor like Mould Hound will advise if the mold growth is “minor” and if it’s relatively easy to clean up.  But Mould Hound will also advise when it’s time to deal with the professionals – where the inspection, assessment, and testing is carried out by experts.

For mold testing in Brampton, or in the various suburbs north of the GTA, trust the pros at Mould Hound for the kind of protocol that is complete and far ranging.  At the same time, do some careful shopping - there are companies that compete on low price, with various claims and promises.  We know that a low price is attractive; but our emphasis is on high quality inspections, assessments and testing.  Don’t forget, when personal health is at stake, it’s not the time to go cheap – it’s the time to do it right.
